Floral Still Life

I grow a little cottage style garden. It’s a habit snuck up in my thirties, when I found myself suddenly appreciating the flowers that my mum and (late) Granny so love. The thing is that up close, flowers look incredible. They’re all sinuous lines and rich textures, papery-thin or velvety thick, spiny or ruffly, and inviting to the eye. Very conventional subject matter, but I want you to see what I see, so I paint them a little differently. These are composed with a macro lens view, painted with creamy soft oils, and colour saturated to give a dreamy fantasy landscape feel.
