I’m Liss, a Canberra based artist best known for my paintings and prints of Australian birds. I’ve branched out with new collections of portraits, floral still life, woodcut prints, and fiction themed paintings. All work is for sale. I hope you find something inspiring!
We’re used to seeing what’s solid, not the light that hits it. My aim is to create ‘just enough’ light for our minds to picture what it illuminates. There is no way to remove marks once made, so these are also an exercise in restraint, and stopping before I think I am ‘done’. Why men? The female muse is everywhere, from renaissance to pop art. But there is beauty and interest in men’s faces too, and subverting the trope is fun.
Light and Men portraits are also my most affordable original artworks. While I personally like (and buy) fine art prints to enjoy art that I couldn’t otherwise afford, there is still something special about an original. I’d like to give more people the opportunity to have one of their own.
